The power strip is the electrical centre for the dollhouse. It is usually installed on the back of the house; however, can be placed in the attic or basement. The location is dependent upon the type/style of building and the owner's preference.
Once the location of the power strip is determined, remove the adhesive strip cover and stick it to your chosen point.
Connecting the lights: You will need to fit a two pronged plug to the end of the cord to fit into the power strip. Simply run the cord to the power strip via the selected route, installed 2-pronged plug and plug it into the power strip.
Alternate Method: You may purchase a light to which the cord & plug is already attached. You may need to remove the 2-pronged plug to allow threading the cord as necessary to the power strip. Re-install 2-pronged plug and plug into power strip.
Removing & fitting a 2-pronged plug: To remove brass pins from the end of light cord, simply hold the white plastic plug top between the fingers of one hand & with a pair of long-nosed pliers in the other hand, pull out the brass pins. Take careful note how the cord is wired into the plug top before removing. Write down wiring scheme for future reference.
After threading the cord throught the hole(s) in the ceiling/back/side of the dollhouse, re-thread the cord through the white plastic plug top being sure to separate the wires into the two hols of the plug and keeping the same wiring scheme. Re-push in the brass pins with the pliers.
When several lights are installed in one area, you can reduce the amount of wiring by attaching the lights to a triple socket cord and running a single cord to the power strip at the back.
Generally there is a "blown fuse indicator lamp" which lights when the fuse blows. Once a new fuse has been installed the indicator lamp will go out. |
If,for any reason, the light(s) do not work, check the following:
Bulb is tight in the socket
Bare wires are properly making contact with brass pins
White plug top is properly inserted in power strip
May need to replace bulb
